Question about installing chrome exhaust tips

I picked up a set of BMW chrome exhaust tips for my '07 328xi coupe today and am hitting up Home Depot later for the correct tool to fit into the screw.

I apologize if this comes off as newbish, but do I simply push the tip as far as it will go onto the pipe and then tighten the screw, or do I need to hammer it on slightly with a rubber mallet and then tighten the screw?

I also assume that these can be easily removed in the future and not cause any permanent damage to the existing exhaust pipes.

No big deal.
My CA installed the OEM tips in 5 minutes just using an allen wrench. No mallet needed. They are the same as the 335i tips.
