key problem any thoughts?

I got a call today from my wife frantic at the grocery store when she could not get the key out of the dash on our 2008 E90 335xi with comfort acess (I know, she likes the key in the dash). She said the electronics were still working i.e. bluetooth and nav. but she couldn't start the car or get the key out. Eventually she just pulled really hard and got the key out. Do any of you guys have any ideas?

Just checking, but, you do know that you push IN to release the key from the slot, right?

You know that if you only push the start/stop button once quickly it only shuts down the engine and not all of the electronics, correct? I have CA and never put the key in the slot so I don't know for sure, but maybe you can't take the key out until everything is completely shut down. Meaning you either have to press the start/stop button twice (once to shut off engine, once for electronics) or just hold the button down for about two seconds. Your wife might have only pushed the button quickly so the electronics were still going.

Again, I'm just speculating because i never put the key in the slot, maybe I'll try this out tomorrow to see how it works...
