Hit by a motorcycle - and guess what...

While driving in the right lane at the speed limit on a suburban NY highway, I noticed a motorcycle quickly approaching. He pulled out into the left lane, and as he started to pass me, he lost control of the bike, hit my car and he fell off the bike, not necessarily in that order. I immediately pulled off the highway, and quite fortunately neither my wife nor I was hurt. My car has multiple dents, dings and scratches on the driver rear door, rear quarter panel and bumper. Estimate to fix approximately $3,000. Accident happened at 4PM, on a sunny day.

The driver of the motorcycle miraculously suffered only cuts and bruises. And now for the guess what part - when I got the police report, I found out that the driver of the motorcycle was arrested for DWI! Now it makes sense why he told the ambulance that he didn't want to go to the hospital.

I haven't attached any pics, as the damage was minor and not that interesting. I am fortunate that this jerk didn't kill me or my wife, and it appears that his insurance will cover the full cost of the damage to my car. But I can't help being concerned that this jerk might do it again.

He's lucky his body parts weren't spread all over the highway.

As if driving in an exposed two wheel vehicle at high speeds around 2 ton metal encompassed vehicles also traveling at high speeds wasn't dangerous enough, he had to go and mix alcohol in there

Glad to see you're safe and in the clear as he can't lie and say you ran into him.

i was in miami once, when i was younger, driving a red 3000gt. ALWAYS had idiots on bikes trying to race me. like mosquitos.

so im driving down this road and i see 4 bikes behind me, they decide to pass.... first two pass clean, next two decide to pass on opposite sides of my car at the same time.

they fly around me, meet in the middle in front, almost hit each other, one guy locks up his rear brake, bike fishtails back and forth wildly for a couple seconds then it goes end over end and he tumbles.

i slow down, make sure he aint dead. roll down my window and just look down at him laughing hysterically as i roll by his ass sitting on the ground at 5 mph.

Glad to see you and your family are safe. Is it not enough that our engines consume alcohol cocktail?

Part of me would just like to sue him to get his bike away from him and maybe make him think a little about what he did. He is over 40 with a family, lives in a nice house, and drives a nice car.

I just ran into a colleague who said he rode his bike 180 mph on I-95 and got caught (I can't even imagine how, what time of day, etc.), but the trooper was into bikes and sat on his bike and let him off for 80 in a 65. Not sure if I believe this colleague or not, but he does have one of those superbikes with some magic box that unleashes it.

Reminds me of a guy I knew in college who said a bike hit him from behind at possibly 130 mph. Wrecked his Chevy pickup and the guy I knew was seriously injured, as well as the biker being killed.

It's no joke and lucky OP you and your wife were not hurt. These bikers can be a menace because the machines are capable of unreal speeds.
