I had to renew my DMV registration this month...

came to just under $700!!!!!!!!

I paid that when I lived in Mississippi, now in Utah its doubled but 700 is robbing.

Yes CA is the rip off State!!!! My registration in my 05 Tundra went up $75.00 this year. I was like WTF as it is supposed to go down each year. Our Government straps themselves because we take care of every other country that needs assistance. Then when they are broke they raise our taxes. That is BS!!!

In California, a large part of the registration fee is a tax based on the current estimated value of the car. The good news is that since it's a tax, you can write the amount off of your Federal taxes.

I just renewed the registration on my kid's '06 Accord here in the People's Republic; it was $46.50 + $5 for a duplicate registration + $10 extra for the special interest plate.

I'm confident we have as much waste, theft and corruption in our state government as anyone else. Probably even more.
