Help Needed - 2010 328i and Value Package/Alloy Wheel Question
Hi all, I just purchased a '10 328i two weeks ago. It came with the following options:
Premium Leather Value Package - Ipod Adapter Heated Front Seats Steptronic AT Navigation Style 360 Alloy Wheels (16inch) After visiting the bmwusa.com website, I just realized that the Value package is free ($0) and comes with Leather, Ipod, and... 17inch rims (style 285, 286). This is the link that contains the info (go to Packages/Options) http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...s/default.aspx I am not sure if this Value package applies to 2011 or 2010 models but I really would liked to have the 17 inch rims. After asking if I can swap the rims to a Style 286, the answer was yes, I would have to pay $2600 (they have to purchase a set of 4, couldn't do a swap). What are my options, I kind of felt that I didnt do enough homework and I am now mad at myself or can I talk to the dealer? Any help or advice would be really appreciated. |

Thanks for the reply, that seemed weird they would offer 17s as a standard, where as in 2010 models, you have to upgrade to a Sports package which is biggest reason anyone would get the Sports anyways.
I guess I have to look for a set of 17s in the pre-owned market then. |

You purchased a car with specific options. You took delivery with said options. No dealer will "swap" wheels for you. Your only option is purchasing wheels. OEM wheels are expensive.
Check the forums, there are lots of 17" OEM rims that come up for sale for cheap. 18" sport rims are a little more. |

So did I just missed the boat or for the 2010 ZVP?? Kinda felt that got cheated....
Only reason why I didnt upgrade to a ZSP is because of the extra $2,000. Now, I have to convince my wife to drop another $800 or so on a set of used 17s.... probably aint gonna happen for a while. 16s are just not made for BMWs, they should not even offer them as an option. T_T |

Xenon is an option and it doesn't come with any package on 2010 328i.
Value Package = you get the ipod adapter for free when you pay for leather seat or premium package. This is what I understand from play around on bmw.com |

What is the big deal about having 16" or 17" wheels? I can understand if you plan on "racing" or "tracking" your car (in which case you'd want bigger wheels anyway), but for plain-old city/highway driving, you will not notice a difference. Not only that, but having a smaller rim with a bigger tire (the 16" rims come with taller tires) will actually INCREASE the ride comfort of your car.

I have no issues with 16s and I'll be fine with them, but from an aesthetic standpoint, 17s are much better looking and it "fits" better with the car.
Just like having the regular headlights are cool but Xenon makes it so much cooler. Just sayin. I think I will eventually buy a set of used 17s after this year to upgrade. Great help and inputs from everyone. |
