(and with this I am not saying it is a better car or not!) I just really do not like the R8. If you are considering a R8, I would consider a Porsche 997.

Your kidding right? The R8 goes 0-60 in 3.9s, and beat the Porsche 997, Lambo Gallardo and DB9 on the Top Gear track...

The m3 is slightly quicker (straight line acceleration) than the v8 R8 and more practical - the R8 has higher top speed, is faster round a track and has supercar looks.

And before i get replies saying the R8 is faster! :

But to answer your question R8 all day long.

Youre talking about the V10 - i would assume if the OP is comparing these cars it is V8 vs V8 surely

V8 R8 is very similar in performance with the DCT M3. V10 R8 on the other hand would destroy the M3 and is more on par with the M6.

The R8, no matter which engine, is an exotic car. It'll turn heads, something an M3 can never do, especially in places like SoCal. However, for daily driving I'd pick the M3.
