Car wash tire shine product/chemical?

Car wash's seem to have the best shining agent for tires... right now I'm using Black Magic tire wet gel, and while its the best I've used thus far it still falls short of the crazy wet look the car wash gives my tires. Any ideas as to what they use and where to get it?

they probably use armorall, which will screw with your tire after the silicone based dressing has had time to bake in the sun. turns the tire all brown and disgusting looking

Thanks for your response arcrox, but I kinda doubt they use regular armorall. They use some pink liquid, and I'm very curious what it is. Havn't gotten a chance to ask the guy from teh car wash (sine I havn'te been to one for months lol) but I doubt he'd even know.

How long does the car wash stuff last? It's probably silicone based (which is fine), so it lasts awhile. If you're only interested in OTC stuff ArmorAll Xtreme Tire Gel or Meguairs Insane Shine aerosol are both pretty good - if you're willing to go online there is a whole slew of stuff you can go from. One tip when applying liquid tire shines that makes them more glossy, and wastes less product; put your hand in a plastic grocery bag, pour a little tire shine in the bag where your hand is and then wipe it over the wheel. More shine, less mess.

FWIW, if you're willing to go online my favorite stuff is this:

http://www.topoftheline.com/graptirdres.html

It's greasy (silicone based), but is super, stupid shiney.

Zaino Z16 works really well too.

Product isn't VOC compliant? Guess it doesn't ship to Ca.

it says that the product in not voc compliant and wont ship to some states. of course Massachusetts is one of them.
what does voc stand for? i'm guessing its something to do with the environment.

Volitile Organic Compounds. It's a measurement of the "environmental impact" of a given compond by the amount of material which evaporates off as the material dries.

+1 on the Zaino. Nice part is that it's water based and seems to last for weeks. The shine is nice, but not "insane". However, if you apply a second coat after the first dries it does "kick it up a notch!"

Ahhh, I forgot about the VOC laws. About 3 years ago VOC laws were re-written and a ton of products had to re-formulate to comply (Klasse AIO, Meguiars #16, etc.. some of the more popular ones), rather than re-formulate Hi-Temp just said screw you to the states with more stringent VOC laws, bummer.

Well, then Zaino Z16 it is. The new Z16 does last a really, really long time ans as espo mentioned if you apply it a second time it can be very glossy.

Man, that really stinks to be in a state with the tough VOC laws; that means a lot of pro-level products wouldn't be sold there, like almost all hi-temp polishes, a lot of Meguiars pro line stuff... :/ I guess you live healthier though!

(FWIW, those new VOC laws are the same reason modern paint finishes have become softer and softer... )

Probally not... The z16 is more of a "natural" shine, like when the rubber was first pulled from the mold. Very "clean" in the appearance (which I like better than alot of the OTC tire products that are just too much and look fake). Don't know how else to describe it.

lol--that is a great tip--then you don't have the mess on your hands either. Thanks!

The new one has a little more bling than the old one (new one came out about 2 months ago), but it's still more natural than say, Armor All Xtreme Gel.

If you really want crazy blingy gloss try Meguiars Insane Shine in the aerosol can.
