HPFP issue already? that sucks.
my friend just got his 2010 335i 6mt....and we were driving on the highway yesterday his engine started spazzing, and saying engine malfunction/reduced power...the car doesn't move right now its sitting in his driveway. Get a load of this....it's 18 days old....and has 1800 miles. Is that normal for it to be an HPFP issue this early into getting the car?

yup thats pretty normal. you can have HPFP problem the minute you drive off the lot. You can even have HPFP problem the minute your car is at the VPC delivery center.
Thats how this game goes. Don't matter if its brand spankin' new, off-the-lot new, or 50k miles old... |

is this a possible lemon law issue? We started the car up in the driveway today...and it started to run for a little bit sounded really f**ked up and then it stalled in Neutral. I thought that was pretty weird.

Hope they get it straightened out for him, it's gotta suck big time to have a problem like that right out of the gate, especially dropping that kind of ca-ching, hopefully it'll be quickly resolved & he can enjoy all the good parts of the 335.

They eventually get home with feathers and other shit in their hair -- from the debris that is scattered all over the store by the gunman. Too funny. It is really totally beyond me how BMW cannot get this problem under control. They must be totally aware of this problem, and they had plenty of time to do a root cause analysis and fix it once and for all. I know, this is of course a little oversimplified (the component probably comes from a 3rd party supplier, with parts from other suppliers again, etc.), but this is crazy. It's a BMW after all.
Honestly, I am feeling a little bit uneasy about my BMW purchasing decision. I love the way the car drives and handles, and I still have almost 4 years of warranty on it, thank god. But there are so many problems with the 3 series (esp. with the 335i), those cars have the great potential to turn into a large money pit. I also own a Toyota, and while Toyota has its own fair share of problems, no Toyota car has that many problems and Toyota (the inventor of continuous process improvement) would have fixed the HPFP issue long time ago. |

Still bmw bravo for ruining this great car..I want to find out which clown in the R&D came up with this crap...and beat him to death with a baseball bat... for all the nightmare we had with these pumps. |

As others have stated this is normal. I am on my second pump and have a little over 5k miles; this was also the case with my 135i Do you know if you had the new HPFP ending in 943??? I have not heard of any issues with this pump yet.

Had my HPFP replaced 3 times, never left me stranded, and each time got immediate service appt with free BMW loaner (5 series one time) and no questions asked. 2nd replacement was because of wrong part in 1st replacement, 3rd replacemen was correct part but had been installed improperly. That was several thousand miles ago and I've had no other issues with the car, which was purchased CPO at 3200 miles (prev. owner got buyback from BMW after driving this car while waiting on M5 to arrive). I've since added 21K miles.
What strikes me as strange is the way these pumps just suddenly go south, and frequently it's when the car has been shut down overnight or even just while in a store, having previously been driven without any issues. Having it happen on the road and disabling the car is not something I've experienced, but I'd be curious to see if what happened to the OP turns out to be just the HPFP or something else/in addition.
