e90 licence plate light housing help

I have a 2006 325i and I want to replace the license plate bulbs and I cant remove the housing. I never removed them before and they look fine and pretty clean. I looked at all the DIY and checked the angle of the flathead screwdriver and when I push the flathead to the right I don't get it to come out. Also I am starting to make indentation in the plastic for pushing to hard. I'm not sure how to do this. I know its a simple thing but it really isn't budging. Am I missing something here?
