Thanks very much...
I always wanted to know how that SPORT button worked. not 100% sure I get it though... So when you are in S mode and then press the SPORT button, is that SPORT+ ? or when you are in D mode and then press the SPORT button, is that the same as moving the Shift selector to S or is it SPORT+ or somewhere between? can any0ne clarify? DCT transmissions are more like manual transmissions in that they have clutches. Starting in 2nd gear would take a lot longer to full engage the clutch without stalling, and hence would increase clutch wear and reduce the life of the transmission. Also, since it has a clutch, torque is reduced when the clutch is slipping.
Regular automatics don't really have that issue since there are no clutches like manual/DCT. It's just the torque converter slipping, and that's not something that wears down like a clutch. The torque converter also acts as a torque multiplier when slipping, so it increases the torque output to the wheels when starting from a stop.

From the looks of the Manual:
If you move it into Sport like on the Steptronic, it will hold gears longer and you can shift up and down manually. Pressing the Sport Button activates Driving Dynamics Control which makes the Transmission shift faster and the car reacts faster to the gas pedal |
