Quick Angel Eyes Question

Hey guys,

I drive an 09 328i, and I notice other BMWs have angel eyes as their running lights, but I don't have a light setting on my model for stand alone angel eyes.

Am I a total retard missing something obvious, or is this just not possible on my model?

I think only the newer LCI coupes use the corona rings as DRLs...not sure though

you have halogens with the LCI corona rings, you have to have xenons for the running angel eyes

Do you have HIDs? Is it a sedan / coupe / vert? I believe only the 09+ HID equipped e90's have angel eyes as DRLs. 08's and earlier require a mod involving a wiring harness.

Do you have iDrive? It should be a setting in there. If not, go to the dealer and they can set it for you.

All NA 07+ coupes and verts have their angel eyes as DRLs.

Yeah. Halogens DO NOT have the rings as DRLs, only the 09+ E90s equipped with Adaptive Xenons have this feature.

I have a sedan, and it didn't come with HIDs, but I added them afterwords with LED angel eyes. I don't have idrive so I will probably run over to the dealer and see if they can switch things for me.

Wait, you said you added LED Angel eyes? As in you got the LED bulbs?

If you don't have HID's the dealer won't be able to help you. You would need to mod this yourself if you want them to be your DRLs. You may need to get a wiring harness to enable this? I do not know if there is one available or not...

Right, I bought LED AEs from Bimmian, but I went to an installer since I don't have much installation experience. Since I don't know a whole lot I suppose I would need to go to an experienced BMW installation guy?

I just went through this last month. If you have LCI Halogen's, the only way you can get angel eyes only is by turning OFF DRL's and then putting your parking lights on (third selection from Automatic setting). The problem with this is it is the only setting that will drain your battery, so everytime you get out of the car, you have to turn the parking lights off. There is a relay switch for 08' and earlier I believe that will force the Automatic setting to use angel eyes as DRL, but nothing for LCI's.

I just got the Lux 5.0 for LCI Halogens installed for my Angel Eyes and they look great, but I really wish I could have them as my DRL's without having to manually put on parking lights on

Xenon equipped cars have AE as DRL's and I believe Coupe's do also (Halogen or Xenons). I have a '10 Sedan.
