Chevron Gas 94 Gas - No ethanol
I was gassing up my car yesterday and noticed a sticker on the Chevron pump that said it contained no ethanol......this is the first time I have seen this.
However the 87,89,91 pump said may contain up to 10% ethanol.... Anyone else notice this?? I only mention this because of all the HPFP theories about bad gas..... BTW I only fill up with Chevron 94, at 12,288 KM still on the the original HPFP (touch wood)

Maybe it's because you're in Canada?
Here in U.S.A., I've noticed that every gas pump contain 10% ethanol.

i believe that by US regulation, all gas in the states must contain 10% ethenol. i dont know the exact reason why though.

I only know of one station in my city that has gas w/ no ethanol.
It's Conoco. They have a bunch of signs advertising the fact that their gas has no ethanol in it. There used to be another Conoco place on the south end of town that had no ethanol as well, but it got changed to a Pilot Travel center. |

On the side note: I've had nothing but bad experience with BP fuels throughout the years. Problems ranging from water in the fuel, to clogged injectors on my previous car. I normally get Shell fuel. On only one occasion I was forced to put BP fuel in my 335i and 30 miles later the fuel pump died. It may be a coincidence, but I will NEVER put BP in my cars again. Hell, I'd rather push my car to a different gas station. |

The ethanol requirement is pretty much a corn state subsidy under the guise of the good intention to develop alternative biofuels. Addmitedly, we are so good at producing corn we had to find some good use of it - otherwise corn prices would plummet and we'd have to fund farm disaster assistance payments.
The use of ethanol in transportation fuels is mandated by the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007. The Renewable Fuels Standard (RFS) phases in the use of biofuels ('standard' and 'advanced') for several years, until 2022 when 36 billion gallons must be used. |

I'm pretty sure Shell 93 (V-Power) is ethanol-free outside the US too.

They've been caught doing this by weights and measures departments in more than one state. I'd avoid BP like the plague. |

Used to be able to get Sunoco 260 in the East-Coast area, but nothing down this way. I use V-Power exclusively, and it too has the 10% ethanol. I've also heard that during the summer months (6 months out of the year here in TX), they "oxygenate" the gasoline and it's got a different mix of additives specifically for warm weather. MPG seems to suffer a bit.
That said...most BMWs aren't equipped to burn anything other than 10% ethanol, and as one of the posters mentioned, I wonder if this could aggravate the HPFP issue?

This is determined by the station owner when he orders the fuel, not by the brand. |
