Question on stock sidewalls
Why are the rear sidewall of the tires 35 and the front 40? Does this mean that out aftermarket rims have to be like this too? I thought if it was rear wheel drive that the rear sidewall has to be the same or bigger than the front..

The sidewall numbers you refer to are percentages of tyre aspect ratio.
You can calculate the sidewall height like this: 225 x 40% = 90.0mm 255 x 35% = 89.3mm I hope it helps! |

in other words, you dont HAVE to do the same exact thing for your next set of tires. But it's prefered to have staggered set up on RWD cars, you can run square but wont really benefit from it. There are articles on tirerack explaining it in detail but ^^+1 it has to do with the overall rolling diameter
