New to BMWs, wanting to upgrade rims
First post on this site. i actually bought my first bimmer yesterday, 2007 328xi.
The first thing i want to upgrade are the rims, right now i have brand new tires and 16 inch rims. Where do i go from here? Im trying to keep it relatively cheap, looking for a lot of spokes and gunmetal. I also have the bmw tire warrenty, how does this affect what i am doing? As you can tell im still new, but thanks everyone |

Most likely the tire warranty isn't through BMW, they usual are a dealer for a third party Insurance company that deals with this type of road hazard insurance (that's what its really called instead of "tire warranty") But your tire/wheel insurance will most likely be voided since you'll be upgrading to a larger wheel/tire, depends what the dealer put down in the tire insurance contract.
Like on my road hazard contract the dealer did it quick and put down 18" Bridgestones with alloy wheels, so if I wanted to I could stick with any model bridgestone tire that are 18" and still hopefully be covered if i get a flat (being i alrdy got 4 tires swapped out of a certain model)

Well your tire/wheel insurance will only cover your 16" tires and wheels. If you get a flat on your aftermarket tires then you'll have to pay outta pocket, usual just a quick patch/plug depends how bad it is.
What I suggest u do is keep your 16" for winter use, to bang around with those pot holes, and use your aftermarket wheels/tires for the summer.

Alright thats a perfect idea.
I have sparkling graphite right now and probably putting on 40 or 35% tints, nothing darker http://www.wheelsnext.com/wheels-rim...2520Gloss.html should be perfect. Last edited by BimmerJoeNJ; 04-16-2010 at 07:27 AM.. |

you could always contact the insurance co. that provides the insurance. Idk about aftermarket, but if 16's really bother you; you could probably get OEM wheels/tires, which "should" be covered under the insurance also

We have a wide variety of wheel designs for you to choose from. Some of the most popular wheel brands which we carry are: Avant Garde, MiRo, VMR, and Forgestar. Let me know if you have any questions at all regarding wheel fitment and sizes!

Congrats on the new car, you have come to the right place. I'd go with a set of VMR wheels, they have a few different styles that are clean and work well on stock or modified cars.
The V710s are super popular and have a concave design. CSLs are another option, they are OEM styled and more subtle. Or if you prefer straight spoke, check out the V701s: |

You are 'xi' so I guess staggered fitment would be somewhat non-functional unless you just like the look of staggered fitment, I know I do. Also, I am not sure about Wheelsnext, but be careful with some of these online aftermarket wheel sites. They can be known for jacking you around. You should try to buy from one of the E90post vendors. They are all reputable and I am sure you can find something that you like from **********s or JLevis.

The thing is, i dont know anything about sizes. I think my best bet would be to take it to a custom car shop around me and talk to them.
Thanks to everyone for the input and information |
