Quick poll - aluminum or gray poplar w/coral red interior

I originally was going to do aluminum trim, but after seeing gray poplar in person it really is a charcoal/anthracite color rather than the brown that many pictures here depict.

It seems that aluminum trim is becoming standard trim on most cars (even at the low end) but the gray poplar trim is either an upgrade or only available on higher end cars i.e. my girlfriend's father's E500.

I know this is purely subjective, but I feel aluminum = sporty and gray poplar = classy. I have also heard that aluminum scratches very easily.

I know it is my car and only I can make the decision but I just wanted to hear other people's opinions. I am getting Space Gray exterior.

For comparison:

Ooh for space grey the choice is hard...it could go either way (alu works for TiAg as well) if the color is darker I would lean more on the grey poplar...

I voted for the grey poplar because I think it would go better with the space gray than the aluminum would. If you were getting TiAg I'd vote the other way.

As you say, Aluminum for sport look, wood for the classy look. To me the Coral Red is falls in the "sport look" category so I'd go with Aluminum.

I have the same combo with the gray poplar. I can't tell you how many compliments I get on it. I didn't think it was that noticeable but 100% of everyone that has sat in my car commented on how nice it looks. It blends well so it doesn't stand out (which I like).

I was contemplating the same thing you are. In the end I chose the coral red/gray poplar. The combination is stunning. IMHO, the aluminum trim is too plain and makes the interior look a little boring, although the coral red would offset that.

Great - would you agree that it truly is a charcoal/anthracite color in real life?

The aluminum breaks the interior up too much, red, black and silver. Too much going on IMO. I think the grey poplar blends better with the black, and the red provides a fantastic contrast.

Personally I think that grey poplar is the worst looking trim available on the car. Not as sleek and sexy as piano black and not as classy as burl. It just kind of exists in a crappy grey color. But thats just me. For the record I have aluminum trim.
