snow tire sizing..
i currently own 245/45/18 snow tires that i used on my old car. will they work on my sport package 335i with the 18 inch rims? the stock sizes are 225/40 front and 255/35. i know the tires will definitely fit on the rims, i just need to know if i'll rub with the bigger profile tires, and if my traction control will go crazy with the new tires sizes, because they are about 6.5% off. my speedo will read 4 mph too slow. i can deal with that for 4 months in the winter. i just need to know if they'll rub or if my driving aids will get confused with the new sizes. thanks in advance.

it shouldn't rub but you typically want to go narrower for snow tires for best traction...i run 225/40's all around on my winter setup.

245/45/18 might give you problems in the front when turning the wheels.

I think you'll be fine with those. I'm going to run a bigger size when replacing my winters and this might be it. Can you post your results?

i've used the tires before, they're excellent in the snow.. would thinner be better? yes, but i like the fact that they're a little wide for the days when its just cold and not snowing and i wanna rip around the streets a bit.. i was definitely worried about the fronts when turning, ughh.. maybe i should search the classifieds for more compatible sizes, and if i find a set, i'll hopefully sell mine for the same amount i spent on the new set.. frustrating though, mine are like perfect with amazing tread, only been driven on for 4 months.. i don't want to be the first to try it, because then its gonna get cold, and i put them on, realize the fronts hit when i turn, then i'll be forced to buy brand new tires because i need them right away because snow will be on its way.. hmmm, decisions decisions

245/45R18 is more than a little off. It will rub.
