e92 M3 delayed to November 2007: reliability issues?

Just read it in the latest Autocar magazine. They stated that the car has been delayed until november 2007 with first customer deliveries sometime in spring of 2008. They cited reliability issues as the main factor behind this move by BMW, but no particular information.

The m3 will be displayed as an M3 Concept model in New Your auto show

I guess BMW learned from the oil pump issues in the first year of production for the E46 M3...

i think they are bumping the HP, but not because of the 335i... they fear the RS4, cause its such a brilliant overall package

Bumping to Nov is no big deal. It was supposed to launch Sept so they are only adding 2 months. They probably found a glitch or two and want a little more testing - avoid the e46 first year problems that created a bad stigma for a couple years on the M3s. I doubt they are adding power at this stage in the development/testing. There is too much testing that would need to be started over to make a meaningful bump in HP to an engine. A two month push isnt enough time for changes. Its just enough time to work out kinks in the existing systems.

First year e46/M3 major issue was failing Engine Rod Bearing, and it wasnt a recall but a Technical Serivce Bulletin to get it replaced w/c up the ante of the powerplant to 6yrs/100k warranty as a gesture of BMW's goodwill.

can you provide us a link, otherwise I can just consider this hearsay! for the powerplant is already in production and in use on other cars V10 engine, except of course they have just reduced it to 8cyl (but it the same exact v10 engine, Jason posted an article about it last year sometime)

I would immagine its has to be something serious for BMW to push this back. Its not like a mom and pop shop pushing something back, there is a lot of beurocratic shit that goes behind something like this in a company this size.

If this is the case, I would get a second year model rather than the first. Since it's a new engine and all, it's kinda scary. THen again, same case with the E90.
