Angry Rant! Dealer removed my clear bra

My car was in for it's 1st oil change and they found my driver's side headlight had a crack on the trim and had to take the headlight apart to replace it.

But to fix the headlight, they had to remove my clear bra from the headlight, now I have one with the bra and one without.

My SA didn't even bother calling me to let me know that they would need to remove the clear bra. I found out when I called to check on my car.

I'm trying to decide if I'll just remove the other one or to get it replaced.

Buy another one to replace. You should make them pay for it.

there's no warranty on the clearbra is there?

I'd rather have a new non cracked headlight without clearbra than a broken headlight with clearbra.

just buy another one yourself, at least your car's fixed

I think ward was saying a new clear bra is cheaper than a new headlight...

your welcome ward

You might be lucky they replaced it under warranty anyways
I beleive that putting clearbra on the headlight voids the warranty because of thermal retension in the housing might cause cracks
Do a search - it's been discussed

Agreed, the SA should have consulted you before the replacement was performed. I don't think they should owe you a new clear protective covering because that is not the way the car came from the factory.
But, I think they dealer (not BMW) should pay for the replacement of the film for the very fact of them not informing you of the procedure that would cause the loss of the protective film before the work was started.

I agreed with you that customer should have been inform via a simple phone conversation. However, they might not have realized it had bra on and could be that many techies do not pay close attention to those sort of detail to notice little thing like that. Granted I do not have clear bra on my lights so I do not know how visible these bra are if I was not paying attention to detail.

Good point! Some clear bras are very nicely inconspicuous.

Oh don't get me wrong. I appreciate that they fixed it and I don't want them to reimburse me, but it's courtesy to at least call me and let me know.

Anyways, I talked to my clearbra guy and it'll be $20 to do the headlight again.
