DICE Ipod Kit for e92

Anyone try this iPod kit for their e92? I have an IceLink in my X5 which is better than anything that BMW offers. This sounds a lot more promising than BMWs product at about the same price. Any feedback?

The only iPod Interface available for your car is BMW's.

We are excited to announce the iPod interface for MOST Bus vehicles. This device integrates the Apple iPod into the BMW audio system and allows BMW owners to control and listen to their iPod music collection by using the vehicle?s iDrive, radio and steering wheel controls (if equipped).

The interface is compatible with the e90/e92 3-series. However, this device cannot be used in conjunction with the 6-disc CD Changer.

The installation kit consists of two wiring harnesses and an interface module. The interface module is connected to the MOST Bus, located behind the dash and has a cable running to the glove box of the vehicle. The connector located in the glove box of the vehicle provides the connection between the iPod and the vehicle. It also charges the iPod while connected and the vehicle is running.
Hmmm.... they mention a couple of times that it's a MOST bus adapter.

This part cracks me up though.

My guess is it's the same alpine unit that BMW sources ... which is cheaper than the $309 listed on that website anyway ($250 at Crown) ... because from the description it plays songs the same way as the BMW unit.

The images on the web site looks suspiciously close to the "BMW Dealer Bulletin" for the ipod interface. You may be right about the sourcing. Unfortunately, it will still require coding by the dealer. It's probably a better bet to go with the BMW interface, especially if something should go wrong with the unit further down the line.

There is no OTHER interface, so the point of going with the BMW Interface is moot.

All anyone can sell is the BMW product.

I don't understand why people have difficulty understanding what JS is saying: only BMW makes such an interface

Uh ..... the website says MOST bus interface, so they're claiming to have one that works. FYI, BMW doesn't "make" the interface, Alpine does.

It's pretty retarded though, spend $310 for that one, plus install and then have to take it to the dealer for activation. You'd be spending more than the BMW marketed interface for (probably) the same Alpine sourced unit.

Alpine is not selling the BMW interface to anyone but BMW.

There is no DICE interface for MOST.

Just to further clarify, since it doesn't seem apparent to everyone, EAS is selling BMW's unit. That is the only Interface on the market for anyone to sell.
