BMW - Bridgestone RFT Settlement (must read)
just got my mail today....class action on Bridgestone RFTs (2006-2007)
it's about fukin time!!! "If you are a current or former owner or lessee of a BMW 2006 or 2007 3 series vechicle equipped with bridgestone turanza EL42 RFT 205/55r16 or 225/45r17 run-flat tires, you could get benefits from a class action settlement." "The lawsuit alleges that defendents should have known that the tires were defective and prone to excessive noise and/or irregular wear, resulting in the tires needing frequent replacement and causing the vehicles to ride roughly." ...and it goes on "causing to ride roughly" I knew it!!!!

Maybe they're not the best tires, but is there any basis for a lawsuit? I can't tell you how many frivilous suits are settled, I've gotten more than 10 checks in the mail for various amounts (about $40-$50), because I owned this and that mutual fund and a member of a class action that was successful. It's hilarious, I lost money, got over it, and 6-7 years later these checks of minimal amounts start coming in the mail. Frivilous suits, but yes, I deposited the checks.

Are your new ones better?
Are your new ones better?
I bought a used 325xi 06 it has the Turanza's RFT's but its the second set on the car at 44k and they still have a lot of tread 3/16 inch. I was going to out and get Conti extreme contacts DWS non RFT right away but I would rather puts some more miles on the turanza's . There not horribly noisy yet. They are kind of bad when you hit a pothole or on cement expansion joints . |

Just the EL-42s, 2006 and 2007 models with DOT number indicating mfg dates before the 22nd week of 2007 for the 16" tires and a date before the 26th week of 2006 for the 17" tires.

EL42 Runflats
My GF's car is still on the original Bridgestone EL42 Runflats from 2006, and fall into the production category... Needless to say, they're loud as hell and making whirring noises at anything over 40 MPH... What steps do I take? If Bridgestone will provide replacement for these god awful tires, I would be ecstatic

Got two of them today myself.
It applies only to 06 and 07 3ers with Bridgestone Turanza El42 RFT in sizes 205/55R16 and 225/45R17. For all further information refer to: http://gilardi.com/BMW%2DBridgestoneRFT/ Nice to finally see this day. One car with 34,000 miles is on it's 3rd set of them, dealer has replaced free both times, and the other car with 22,000 miles is on the second set also replaced free. Did take some convincing from BMWNA a couple of times for the dealer to go ahead and replace under the SIB though.

It was the car that had the problem in that case, not the tire.
