brake light
i got my 328i about a month ago. It has approx 49k miles on it and a check light just came on the other day. In the manual it tells me that it means check brakes. The car stops on a dime and the brakes feel fine, very nice. Is this a common thing or do i really need brakes?

Is it still in warranty? If it is, take it in ASAP if you're still in warranty (before you go over 50k). At worst, they check and the pads still have a lot of life left and they don't do anything. At best, you get new brake pads and rotors (which are expensive). You don't have much to lose and a lot to gain...

the light is just telling you that your brakes pads might be worn. it will have nothing to do with your normal driving performance.
Like stated above, take it in quick and have everything replaced under warranty
