drive em both and let us know.

If you love your 330 but want more power..335 sounds like the winner to me. If you want to try something different..S4.

Lots of 335 owners have gotten a s4. Its a great car. Comparably equipped they are near the same price. S4 has a slight edge in stock vs stock performance with a modded 335 beating the stock s4. Right now the 335 has more mod options.

I chose the 335 because it was cheaper, easier to tune, and looked better inside and out to me. Im just not an audi fan. Cant go wrong with either.

I still think the 335 drives a bit better, has a bit better road feel. But the new S4 is awful close. And the S4 wins in other areas.

Guess it depends on what's more important to you.

You should definitely drive them both. Drive them hard enough to feel like you really know what to expect from each car. Both are good cars... different, but good cars. The S4 is getting very big in size.... good and bad at the same time.

Yeah, I noticed the S4's size when walking around the one in the showroom. Noticeably bigger than my e90.

And the size of that trunk!! I'll swear on a stack of bibles that you could put eight bodies in that thing with room left over for groceries.

IMO the B8 S4 looks more modern, better interior quality, and feels/drives faster than the 335xi (stock for stock). I think the B8 S4 is/looks longer though... I would say B8 S4 but the Sport Diff is a must if you're going to get the S4.

oh yeah the s-tronic auto transmission on the new S4 is pretty impressive as well

I agree. FYI, I really like my 335i coupe. A great car . Very good performance. with very good gas mileage especially for this level of performance. Like the looks of the coupe better than the sedan and don't really need AWD. My last car was an 04 s4 which I also liked but the high lease rates and poor gas mileage brought me back again to BMW . My lease is over on 4/23. I have an new S4 on order. 6mt red with black leather, sport dif and CF trim. Since there will be an entirely new 3 series available for 2011, could not see myself driving the older model 3 series for another 3 yrs. I would have really liked the S5 if it were not $3-4k more expensive AND it has the same old Gas guzzling 4.2 V8 as in my previous S4. The new 3.0 S/c engine in the s4 is such a vast improvement over the V8 . The interior is somewhat more luxurious in the S4. Not willing to pay extra for the 335is. when a turbo tuner or Juicebox will give similar performance upgrades for between $300-600. BTW, I don't think you can go too wrong with either car and you probably get more bang for the buck with the 335i.

I dunno but I'm so glad the new S4 wasn't out when I was car shopping. It would have made it a very difficult choice for me since I'm such a big Audi fan (had a B5 A4 for 8 years previously). At the time I bought all they had was an undepowered A4 and overpowered/overweight S5. If I had to choose today I'd still say the 335i because i've enjoyed every mile I've had in it. Good luck.

Wow, that sounds pretty much how I feel. I loved my B5.5 A4, the 2.0T was a nice enough engine, and the 6MT was smooth. If it was 335xi vs S4, I dunno what I would have done either. Although, I love my 335xi daily.

If you are buying - S4
If you are leasing - 335 (335 has a higher residual)

if you live in harsh weather conditions - 335xi

335i for nice weather

s4 for nice weather.

but i would choose the 335 over the s4 for compatibility.

I'm considering the S4. And have driven the Stronic and 6MT. This is a great sports sedan.
Although the essence and purpose of these sports sedans are the same, manufactures have gotten very creative and offer features and unique option packages that make line by line comparisons confusing.

The result by design....BMW and Audi (and others) have created a niche within a niche.

The 335xi and the 2010 S4 are very similar but different enough that it can make a decision either very easy or very difficult DEPENDING on your specific needs and budget.

The above quote is the bottom line....
...BMW residuals are much higher than Audi so leasing the 335xi will be much less than leasing the S4.
The value of the S4 is very hard to beat if you want to buy.

BUT BMW dealers can be reminded of the S4 and you as the buyer can negotiate a great deal on a late model run 335xi.

Have fun deciding and Good luck!

Audi does not have an engine in their stable (short of what they put in the R8) that is a match for the N54. If you want to deal with supercharger whine or a gas-guzzling, underpowered V8....go with the Audi S4/S5.

That said, Audi interiors blow BMW's out of the water.

My two cents...

I enjoyed my 2001 B5 S4 for 7 years, before I sold it to buy my 335i xDrive. Not sure about the new S4, but boy the B5 S4 was very expensive to maintain after warranty. Maybe I'm kidding myself that my BMW will be any less expensive to maintain in the long-term, but I'm hoping BMW reliability is a notch above Audi.

I guess it's a matter of opinion, but I find it funny every time someone posts that Audi interiors are so much better that BMW interiors. I love the interior of my 335i, and do not find it any less luxurious than my Audi. In fact, I had a lot of problems with the climate control system in my B5 S4 which Audi could never seem to fix correctly, and which in part led me to look at BMW for my next car.

Anyway, test drive them all and buy what you like!
