20x9 Front?

Anyone think that a a 20x9 40 offset wheel with a 255/30 tire will fit under the front end?

I have 20x8.5 with 235/35/20 offset 40.....I have about
1/8 of an inch before the tire rubs when I am making left or right turn...........

I would go with 245/30/20 just to be on the safe side.

NatureBoy!!!----Your ride is sweet!! Please fill me in.....Are you lowered? What set up if so? If not do you have the factory sports suspension? I have a 325I.....are the wheelwells the same size as the 330's? How much lower are the factory sports suspension as apposed to the non sport? What size tires are you running in the rear? How wide a wheel? So you are saying that you do rub with the 235/35/20's? Sorry for all the questions, but you do seem to be the guy that would know!!!!! Thanks a million!!!

I have the factory sports suspension...I believe is .75 inch dropped. I think the wheel walls are the same for the 325 and 330.........and here is the setup for my 330i.
235/35/20.........20x8.5.......Offset 40......Front
275/30/20.........20x10........Offset 40.......Rear

No rubbing in the rear...the front sometimes rubs a little when making a sharp left/right turn....but hardly.

I hope that helps......

Thanks Natureboy. I decided to go 235 in front with a 19" wheel. I wanted 20" but I thought it would be too high considering that I do not have the sport suspension.

Can you post pics of your car/rims.

Straight & Angle shots. Also if you could take closeup shots near the fender, I want to see how much space filled up. I also did opt to get the sport package and will be in the same boat as you. I'm still deciding on what size rim to get. . . 19's or 20's. hmmm

Wheel sizes are 19x8.5 +45 offset with 235/35 on the front and 19x9.5 +25 offset with 275/30 on the back sitting on stock non-sport suspension. The gap between the edge of the fender and the tire is 1 3/4 inches. The sidewall height is 2 inches where the tire meets the ground. I would not want less sidewall than this, so putting on 20's would have raised it another 1/2 inch. The rears fill out the wheel wells perfectly, but the fronts could use a 5 to 10 mm spacer.

Nice pictures! You mentioned that if you put on 20's, it would've raised the sidewalls up about another 1/2? So then the the tire from the ground would be 2 1/2 in height?? I would have thought the sidewall would be less if you went with a 20". Or am I wrong?

One other question, if you make a sharp turn onto your driveway, once the front tire hits the sidewalk and your steering wheel is still turned, how much left over clearance is there? A picture maybe. =)

No, I meant that keeping the same size tires, adding on inch to the rims would increase the distance from the car to the to the road by 1/2", making the car 1/2" taller.

Example: Naturboy is running the same aspect tires as me 235/35. But, his are on a 20 inch rim making the overall height of the tire 1" taller than mine, so running his rims on my car would jack my car up 1/2". He has the sport package and I don't, so if I ran his rims my car would be .6" to .75" taller than his.

Another way to think of it is that the 20" combo is 6% taller than stock 16", while the 19" combo is 2.4% taller than the stock 16"

As for your last question, do you mean how much ground clearance do I have? If so, it is almost the same as stock, maybe a few mm higher. Will take pics and measure later.

BTW...I think that running any less sidwall than the 235/35 has is too much of a risk, but that is just my opinion.

Gound clearance measures roughly 6.5" to the bodywork, 4.5" to the bottom of those little plastic diverters that hang down in front of the front wheels. My driveway is not steep at all so I will try to snap a pic this weekend when I find a steep drive.
