Hit a Deer Today...

And suffered no damage at all... unbelievable.

I was doing about 70 MHP on the highway today, in NY of all places, and about 12 deer ran out across the highway. The lady in front of me nailed one and destroyed the front of her car. I think the truck next to me clipped one as well but it ran off.

I hit my brakes and slowed down to probably 45 or so just as a deer ran in front of the car. I hit the deer broadside and sent it flying a ways. It rolled over a few times over the pavement but managed to stand up and limp of the road.

I pulled over expecting the worst but the only thing that happened was a bunch of deer fur got stuck in the mesh in front of the intercooler. No scratches, no dents, no grille damange, no damage at all. Even the front license plate was fine.

There were four other people in the car and none of us could believe it.

.... feel sorry for the deer... and it's a shame our highways are't fenced, and our drivers and wildlife are at risk.
I wonder how autobahns protected from wildlife?

wow. did you check it cleaned/under good lighting? i think our bumpers are made to pop back into place if something hits it, but it may have damaged the paint when it gets pushed in and flexes back (you might see spider-webbing). glad to hear you're ok!

Trust me, I did feel sorry for the deer. I don't expect the one that I hit to make it to far the way it was limping and all ripped up, or the one the other lady hit.

After that the rest of them ran back and forth across the highway a couple times. It was unreal to watch. No hesitation at all. They just ran like the cars weren't even going past.

There were five people checking in daylight and none of us could find anything. Must have looked for about five minutes.

I checked that also. It looked fine. Just had a bunch of deer fur in it.

I do feel lucky though...

God was with you, especially given the high number of accidents and unfortunate situations popping up on this board. Hopefully the deer can go to deer heaven

You're incredibly lucky... I practically totaled my car hitting a deer while I was breaking going about 35.

No damage! That's the most beautiful story I've read in a long time *wiping tears*.

Happy to hear that, OP!

Hard to believe. That's some luck. Glad you and your car are okay.
