got the half engine light last night

I was driving fairly spirited last night on the highway when the yellow half engine light came on. I had reduced power and drove for another 10 miles and than turned off the car and let it sit for about 1/2 hour. Came back and started it back up and no light and full power again... I am running jb3 on map 3 and have a BMS DCI. Other than that its stock. Should I remove my JB3 and take it in to the dealer or is it fine? Do you think I have a stored code? I don't want to take it to the dealership if I don't have to, of course!

Thanks for any advice!

It could be a false alarm, just a glitch caused by your map. If I had to bet though, my money would go on it being your HPFP.

I got the 1/2 engine warning in yellow also. After the second time, I took the car in for service. The code indicated a faulty vanos. BMW recommends switching the vanos which they did. Got the car back yesterday and the same 1/2 engine yellow warning came up again. Apparently replacement is the next step. Anyone else have this problem?

I had the same problem a couple of times. They finally did replace the vanos

This happened to my 335. In the end, they replaced the rear turbo. Can't imagine what that would have cost if it weren't under warranty.
