Its possible. But why would you want a DCT knob if you dont have a DCT car? Its like putting a manual shift knob on an automatic car.

I looks very classy vs. the stock auto e92 shiftknob.
The M5 one is nice but the pattern doesn't match... this one should still move like the factory one would ( and make sense)..

It also lights up doesn't it?

I dont think so. I think that knob is electronic. Meaning that you can just flick the knob up and the transmission will be shifted into reverse. you can flick it down and the gear will go into Drive. Push the park button and the parking gear engages.

However, If you're asking if you can replace the knob for aesthetic purposes, then I dont know.

EDIT: I think the one in the 5 series looks flatter. this one is more shaped like the current automatic shifter.

This knob isnt only for DCT transmissions, I saw it on an 08 528i. And the current E9xs can get it in europe. the knob hasnt made it to the three series in the US yet.

Was actually lookin to do it too. The top of the shifter keeps fading away this will be the second time I've have to replace it. Looks way classier too. Hopefully it isn't a pita

the shifter thats pictured is not able to be retrofitted...its an actual shift box with hall sensors for shifting not a cable to switch from park neutral and drive...the knob itself last i checked was unavailable separate from the shift box..that being said:
the original knob pictured is available here in the dct z4's..not sure if its officially for just the DCT's but thats where ive seen it here for sure...the 5 series pictured is a diff knob but similar shift box-also completely different from the 3 series...

Why do people mod things. Rarely it has much more than aesthetic purpose.
