software update ?
after two failed hpfp and a low pressure sensor that just was replaced a few weeks ago my car was still not running right after the sensor was replaced. the car was still hesitating a bit when i put the pedal to the metal and it just was not as quick as before. the dealer took the car for three days this week and after test driving it came up with fault codes. they told me that they did a total software update (latest and greatest) and re-mapping of the software and the car is fine now. so i picked it up and to my astonishment the car is amazingly responsive and smooth as butter. can anyone explain what happens when they do a software update and re-mapping? the car is a different animal now!

This is from memory, I think my car was updated to 35.4, which is supposedly a non-laggy software. My car hasn't died since, although I believe that 35.4 is tamer than what came from the factory in 11/06. It was something like 29.2 to 33.0?? that had turbo lag.
My main concern was mpgs--a guy at the gym said not only did his car have lag, but his mpgs dropped considerably after an update. My mpgs are the same. |

The new software is great, the only problem is the when u r using manual mode from shifting second to third gear, if your rpm is not reach let's say around 3000, u will feel chocking significantly from your car =.=

I think the new software update may cause wastegate to rattle a bit?

That's beyond 35.4 which my car supposedly has, so maybe there was a point at which things got better, maybe 33.1 and above....I can't imagine a software that makes a car slower, while using more fuel. Unbelievable that BMW had dealerships deny any owner claims that that was happening in the 29.2 days....

i find it interesting that they come out with new software and you have to have a problem before you can get it upgraded. I had to travel from vermont to ct today and the car is a bullet, brings all the fun back! Like i said last night totally different car!

That would be great thanks. I wonder if a newer version came out. If they cannot tell you over the phone they can read it off the keyfob.

software update
im thinking about getting my software updated but will this affect my oem alarm?
I bought a used CPO at sterling BMW newport 2007 335 sedan last month. I installed a oem alarm myself after buying one used from another member and after the plug n play I had a chirp confirmation already so I didnt have to get it programed. will the new software update affect this? Im worried my bmw dealership will say I need to reprogram and that it voided my warranty because I installed the alarm myself. |
