hahaha... that's crazy. Even with winter tires, looks like you need to dig it out first. Has to be the first winter shots of an E92.

Man, you guys are taking a beating pretty early...

We should start a pool to what date you post a thread in the classifieds selling the 335 so you can buy a 328 and awd beater (with ground clearance) for the winter..

dude, that sucks ass! i hate winter and everything associated with it. we don't get much snow here, but we get all the other perks like cold, freezing winds, ice, and people that call for a national emergency close schools down every time there are some flurries in the area

Man, I live in Canada and even I feel sorry for you. Those lake-effect snow storms can be tough. 2 feet in one place and 20 miles away nothing.

When I got stuck there was only about a half an inch on the ground. I still couldn't get the car up the driveway without snow tires.

I left the car where it was and crossed my fingers that it didn't get hit by a tree.

The following was 6 houses down from my house:

Thanks...

Thankfully my car didn't get a single scratch from the storm.

Although I lost power for 6 days. Some people are still without it (about 10K homes which is not bad considering that 3/4s of the city was without power).

Funny thing is that 2 days later all of the snow was gone.

I have snows on my car now, but I doubt that I'll even drive it on most winter days.

Bottom line: Buffalo winters > RWD

WOW! The leaves haven't even fallen off the trees yet. Some are still green! I take it that this isn't normal (this time of the year) for even buffalo.

Not normal at all.

Earliest snow storm in the city's history.

We usually don't get snow until late November-December.

90% of the trees in Buffalo were damaged by the storm.

I live in Montreal - we get about the same snow as you do, but much colder on average, with good winter tires there is no reason you should have any trouble to get through winter (altough there may be moments where your lower clearence will proove too little to clear snow grooves).

A bigger concern is the slope in winter if there is ice - the car could slip - I made a point of choosing to live only where indoor parking was available ever since my university days, where my crap mobile would regularly get stuck in snow banks and dinged by snow plows. Not to mention having to get out in the bitter cold and wait for the car to warm up after freezing your fingers off getting the snow cleared

So too bad you don't have the option of a garage.

MrSilver -- I would recommend against the FJ Cruiser although it has a great Retro look. Take some drives with it first. It has some ridiculous! blind spots. I would recommend the Jeep Commander, Sahara or Liberty plus you can find some great deals new or used. You can also probably find some good deals on used X3s because of the new models coming out.

Almost all of my family lives in SoCal, and I went to school out there.

I left CA after experiencing first hand the '89 Quake (drove over the Bay Bridge 30 minutes before the quake hit), the riots in LA (my team had to get a police escort out of L.A. so that we could play that weekend in Santa Barbara, The Northridge Quake (My aunt lives in Woodland Hills), and numerous fires, and landslides.

Any btw, my uncle owns a restaurant in Torrance.

Well those things tend to happen once in a while, but there are always going to be tradeoffs with everything. We live in a temperate climate with virtually no snowfall and the low temperature hitting 55 degrees at the lowest, but we have to live under the threat of a massive quake happening. I'd rather take that over living in snow 4-6 months out of the year though.

Don't get me wrong, I love cold weather...I just would rather not be subjected to it day in and day out for months on end.

I will gladly take the cold over massive forest fires and mud slides guaranteed once a season, plus the threat of an earthquake.

Oh yeah, and the drought-related water restrictions. And the brown outs.
