DTC vs DSC: What's the difference?

So the M3 has DSC and the 320d loaner I'm smoking about in at the moment has a button labelled DTC.

In the current greasy conditions I'm quite enjoying finding drive and not chirping, sliding, shimmying around at the slightest hint of power. However last night I thought I'd give it a little cheeky provocaton at a T-junction and before I knew it I was at the most improbable angle and utterly sideways (in a 30 zone, somewhat embarassing ) and far, far more than the M3 allows with DSC on. I had the feeling that it wasn't going to step in and catch it either...

Is it that DTC is actually only Traction Control and not Stability? Seems hard to believe stability isn't standard on a modern BMW...?

When you select DTC it will allow you to have more wheelspin before cutting power / before braking, and it allows bigger angles. So indeed, you can go quite sideways with it. The stability control however is still active and will catch you if you are over doing it This function is great for driving away in snow and for more sporty driving / tracking. The M3 has similar features by the way.

M3 is Manual, 320d is an Auto.

My main surprise is that with full Electrical Grandmothers active, the 320d achieves far, far mure lurid slip angles...

ETA: Does that make a difference?

DSC - Dynamic Stability Control
DTC - Dynamic Traction Control

Reason I ask is because I have DCT (auto) which has MDM mode. Its like a race mode with a hint of traction control which kicks in to save you when you are fighting to get the car under control
Does yours have this??

Yep, 3 stage DSC (ON/MDM/DEATH) is standard across the E9x M3 range

is it DSC + that ours have?
