my first oil change.. wow what a difference..

hey guys.. I know some of you had your first oil change around 4 or 5k.. I just had mine today.. at 6500 miles.. first I have to say that it feels like new now... very smooth. Before the new oil, car didn't feel as smooth . .that is after 7 months of driving.. well.. it's all good now. I also had them check my WINDSHIELD wiper fluid.. because the warning had been coming on intermitently... they just filled it up again.. and told me nothing is wrong with the sensor.... one more thing.. the service guy pointed out a small bubble on my front tires. right on the side... must be from those damn potholes.(riding on 18s)

THe reason i got the oil change at 6500 is because of 2 reasons 1) the car is mine.. not a lease. When i got there, the service guy did tell me that i didn't need one now.. but I did it anyway. and 2) the oil check is almost near MIN. 1/4 way bfore MIN.

my question to all..
1) how much is an oil change from BMW?.. mine was over $100.. they didn't reset the service schedule.
2) Is windshield fluid warning light a common issue?

thanks
My next oil change will follow BMWs service schedule which is 12000 or march 2007.

I did with my E46, never had any problems, or noticed any gains from the fresh oil.

On my lease I will get the oil changes at 1 year or when the computer says to.. which ever happens first. $100 sounds a little more then the average from what I have seen.

I am getting mine done in a few days. I'll see if I notice a difference afterwards. Right now at 15000km (9300miles) Car is a bit over a year now and I really should have done the oil change a bit earlier.

How much over $100? Mines was $150 and it was funny because the oil change price wasn't even in my dealer's system yet. They had to price it manually. They shouldn't reset the schedule. My countdown is down to 900 miles to for my freebie.

I haven't had any problems with the washer fluid, but others have.

I changed mine on 1500 miles right after the break in period and plan to replace the oil every 7500 miles interval. My E46 had 93K miles and never had any problem with engine.

Most people have been waiting until 15k to 18k miles at my dealer. And the $100 dollars seems right since your oil is supposed to last so long anyway.

BMW 5w30=Castrol TXT 5w30 (synthetic blend from Europe). It's generally good for about ~7.5k intervals. I have a feeling we will be seeing sludging issues with the 335i down the line...15k intervals on a turbo motor is nuts, especially when driven hard. Doing oil changes yourself is a snap and cost you $40-50 if you want to save $.

..I have a question: My 330i has about 4600miles on it with about 11-12k miles left on the oil clock. Now, I bought my car in April but it was built in Jan, so the one year mark is set at Jan 07, will they change the oil in Jan, or will I have to wait until april? If they'll change it in Jan, I might as well wait (I'll prob. have around 6000miles), but if I have to wait until April or 15k miles, I think I should probobly have it changed sooner, right?

It is one year from when you bought the car I think.

You get a free oil change after one year of use even if the CBS indicators says you are not due for an oil change for so many km's. At least this is how it works right now.

Dealer quoted $135, Indy Shop quoted $75.

btw..Be glad they didn't reset the service schedule. It's more to it than just the oil change.

15k is really an "under ideal conditions" which don't apply to most drivers.

Oil changes cost me 95 bucks Canadian including Tax at the dealer here in Calgary.

I got mine changed at 2200 km, 7500 km, 12500 km, 20500 km and will get it done again around 30000km.

My car has never consumed a drop of oil. Curious if those waiting so long for oil changes are the only ones seeing oil consumption? Anyone changing oil often seeing consumption?
