Question about getting service done on 335I

Maybe this has been answered but I cant find it if it has.....

I need to take my 335I in to get something fixed.. Its the auto adjust on the side mirror when backing up... It was working fine since day one..... I washed my car(not the 1st time obviously) and when I got back in the car it doesn't work...
SOOO.... I need to take it in... question is:
If I take it in for just that, is there any chance they will Automatically do the software upgrade too? I have heard stories (like everyone has) about the downgrade in performance and DONT want the software updated... Do I need to be concerned or will they only do the update if I request? THANKS!!

Make sure the button is either in the left for the right mirror to work or vice versa. If thats not the problem take it to the dealer. The software updates will happen if you need it. When they ask for your FOB and insert it into the computer, it will let them know if any software updates are needed. If you are worried about the software issue then state for them not to do the update, wash your car and perform any test drives unless you want that. I recently found out they do a 2 mile test drive here at my dealership everytime you bring it in. He also happend to do it after they just finished detailing it after I told them not to wash it to begin with. I repeat, do not let them wash your car!

They do a crappy wash or whats the complaint about that?
Also as far as the mirrors the problem is not that they wont adjust.... Its when I go in reverse the right mirror automatically pointed down and now it doesn't.. I did not go into the menu and turn it off either and no one else drives my car...

Check the power side mirror switch located on the driver side door pannel. If the controller is on the "passender side mirror mode," that mirror will not move when you put the car in reverse.

What's important is that you got your problem solved and that's what the site is about. Yeah, BMW dealerships do crappy washes unless there is one that is touchless. They did a dealer wash on mine and it was so bad that I asked if they used their ass to wipe it down. I was so pissed that they offered their premier hand wash service which was also shitty but they made an attempt to make things better. They were worried about the "5" rating.

What I don't understand is why the service department didn't mention this feature to the OP when he called for an appointment. BMW dealership need to hire more informed people.

BMW should make a more explicit and intuitive button instead of piggybacking the function on the controller button.

I dont understand how so many dealers have terrible car washes. The one at the dealer I work at is great, and havent ever had any complaints. In fact I use the wash bay to wash my car all the time
