I saw a guy pull into a dealership for service because he was getting the same error message. The SA and the driver couldn't figure out which light it was, so I said check your reverse lights... and that's what it turned out to be. Just a shot in the dark.

Funny how you individually can get more gratification helping an individual out with a dilemma, than the actual person in need gets from the solved problem! To the OP: Id try just that, throw the car in reverse! |

just had my rear left light assembly replaced. I had the "light out" warning for a month before they figured it out

another popular and hard to trace light is the light that comes on when you turn the wheel in the headlamp assembly

This doesn't have anything to do with your problem, but your headlights DO tilt up and down. They tilt when you first turn them on, and continually adjust while you're driving.

When my 'light out' message popped, it turned out to be the adaptive brake lights. The lights that are supposed to light up real bright when you stand on your brakes.

I had this the other day too. It told me "left brake light out" in my idrive, then go away and come back. When I checked the bulb, they were ALL loose. My dealer is doing the TSB (SIB 63 02 08 - all coupes before May '09) procedure Monday. OP has a coupe, so I wouldn't be surprised if this is his probem too

The same thing is happening to me right now but I just put in aftermarket parking lights and head lights in and I think its the parking lights(2825 LED's) I don't think its the head lights(H7's)

Same with me, I used the BMW wiggle technique and it went away for a week or so. I don't have iD, but I was getting CC-ID 136, "left brake light failed" During service, the dealer replaced the bulb socket to fix it. Pretty sure this is a TSB'd problem. |
