mm i guess if you got it replaced it would be on the order paperwork. otherwise i think it's probably on the pump itself

This is right. The official part number of the HPFP that is "current" is on RealOEM (right now it lists 13-15-7-592-881), but the only way to be sure what is OEM installed on the car is to look at the pump, I think. It is also likely that there is a list on a computer somewhere, created when the car is assembled, but I am not sure if the dealer can access it.

Does it matter? on My 2008 the original failed at 25k miles the replacement failed at 26k miles after two months. I don't think there is a model being used that doesn't fail.

Makes sense looking at the number sequence. But I just wanted to make sure before purchasing it.

Thanks.
You're buying a fuel pump?

Of course if that 5% are getting a new HPFP every 200 miles, then maybe BMW's estimate is accurate or NOT?

Let's hope the new HPFP is better than the past versions.
The numbers are interesting and they mean we finally have more than the usual mixture of the upset and glad talk. I have never believed the 5% pump failure rate, because the number was never confirmed by anyone free of vested interest. As far as the new pump goes, we can hope, but we should bear in mind that there were pumps with new part numbers before, and the problem still exists. Hopefully, the new pump will at least last longer.
