Help! Am I too late?
Hello everyone. I recently placed an order on a 335i with MSports, Steptronic, and Premium. However, i'm starting to miss not getting the iPod/USB adapter and the more and more I read about it, the more i'm regretting it
My question is, since I ordered it for delivery from Europe (It's coming in 1st-3rd week of February), is it too late to add on the iPod/USB adapter? If it is, are there any other ways of getting it? |

I would ask your sales associate. Obviously, it's a matter of timing. I called the day after I placed my order and added an option and it was no problem.

If the car hasn't been built yet, it's not too late.
Call your CA stat. I made the same mistake with iDrive, and by the time I called, my car was already in paint.

Doesn't hurt to try and see if you can add it.

The ipod is a great thing. I have some 800 songs on mine. When there is nothing of interest on the radio, which is often enough? It's like having the best songs from 300 CDs available. There is a setting for random songs which is great, or playlists self made or using "genous". If you load your ipod wisely, its quite a nice addition. I had it dealer installed in my 2004 e46 330ci and factory installed in my 2008 e92 sounds the same. What would I use a USB for?
There are after market options available no doubt as well. |

Works the same as the ipod? I have a 6 year old 20GB ipod. I've never used mor than 7GB. Never had a reason to change it. USB sticks are a lot cheaper. Of course, its a 40k + car, so what is $200 (what I paid back then) versus $10 to $40 today anyway...

I use my 6FL every time I'm in the car (even if the gd thing doesn't charge my phone).

Pros: I like the concept of being able to change music with the steering wheel without taking my eyes off the road
Cons: I'm not sure how much I really need the USB part of this (I don't have iDrive) and if it can't be built by the factory, I'm not sure if I should just ask the dealer to do it for me (I've heard some negative things about dealer installed vs factory installed) |

If worst comes to worst, this is something the dealer can install for you. It'll cost you more than just getting the 6FL option though, so call ASAP to see if you can get it added.

I don't have an iDrive and I still use the USB part of it. I control it either within the radio unit or with the steering wheel control.

I have it but never used it.
If you are getting idrive, I would save that money and just import music with the usb in the glovebox. |

I only used ipod cable like 3 times through one year of ownership.
However, I find USB adapter to be REALLY useful with idrive as it could download hell of music and organize into the system without any efforts. But i'm not sure how useful it could be in non-idrive car. |
