M3 instrument cluster into Non M E90
Any gurus had this installed on your 325?? How complicated it is to make the M3 instrument cluster function normally?
Thanks. |

I've seen E92 335i with M3 cluster with higher RPM tech just like M3, then does 335i rev up to 8k if you directly swap it?

I'm not really one for putting non-functioning aesthetics on cars.
Want to modify your gages? Cool, but don't swap it for the //M3's. You'll never rev to 8K. I don't really get why people do this, it's like putting an MDCT shifter on an non-M auto slushbox......makes no sense whatsoever.

Yea, do a search. I've seen posts with pics of at least one person who changed the LEDs on the actual gauges. So, he kept the non-M gauges, but changed it from orange to white with red needles. Very cool.

You do realize that's just a piece of plastic, right?

The M3 cluster shares many similarities with the non-M version, but it will not function correctly as a direct swap. Reprogramming is needed, which is beyond my capabilities, although it has been done by others on the E60 (for an M5 cluster). Most of the parts are interchangeable and several users have had success creating a "hybrid" cluster from parts I supplied. Hope this helps.

I ask the questions you're afraid to ask.

Sure - just like your car will go 180mph like it says on the speedometer. You'll have to add a M-Sport sticker to the back of your to get the full 8k revs though.
