Has this happened to anyone?

As I was driving today everything on my dash lit up. All the indicators such as
Seatbelt unlatched
Brake
DTC
Cold Weather
Oil
Both turn signals
Fog lights

and every other indicator lit up at the same time. Then everything shut off. My stereo, my iPod, my miles til empty even my mileage went blank. And within seconds it all came back but I had lost everything. My mileage was reset to zero, all the radio stations lost. Really weird all happened WHILE I was driving. I took it to BMW and they thought it was a loose battery connection.

Nope. Everything checked out fine. I have no engine mods and the only electrical mod are my blacklines which I installed over a year ago. They are going to run diagnostics on it to see what the heck happened later on in the week since its running just fine engine wise and all that jazz.

Just curious to know if this happened to anyone else and what the outcome was.

Your mileage reset itself to 0? I really hope you mean trip odometer and not the main/overall car mileage.

I thought blacklines were just trim/cosmetic, how are those an electrical mod?

The belt in the latch is mechanical, but it sends electrical signals to the computer to let it know that something is plugged into it. So it's both, but more electrical

No it hasn't... but if it did, I would refuse to ride in the car until BMW found the fault. Seriously, don't drive it.

Yes they are tail lights, but they are just cosmetic Sarah as they do not require any "Electrical" modifications, they are merely swapping out the lenses. Any updates?

Similar set of error indicators was displayed in my 2006 330xi approximately six month ago. The car had been parked at the time for about two hours. During that time, the battery voltage went so low that the electronic lock did not function, the car did not start, and nothing was displayed on the dashboard. After a boost from an external battery the car started, and the same indicators as you have listed lit up, except the mileage was intact. The error displays disappeared when the car was driven for about half a minute and everything was back to normal. The event happened only once and the dealer had no satisfactory explanation for it.

yep same thing happened to me except in my E46. Travelling about 75 mph on the highway heading up to Canada. All the dash lights suddenly came on, seatbelt light blinking, nav and radio blanked out. Fortunately the engine was fine and running and the headlights were still working. Pulled into a shopping mall parking lot, and turned the car off. Turned it back on and everything came back, but clock and radio stations had to be reset. Trip mileage was gone, but the odometer reading was still there.

Brought to dealer and there were no error codes, and they couldn't find anything wrong. The dealer did eventually replace the alternator and the crankshaft position sensor but I don't know if those were related. The issue never came back. Hopefully this is a one time event for you as well.

Yes but its not latched with an electical solenoid like our trunk. The electrical part grounds the circuit to retract the belt assist and turns off the selt belt light on the dash. Prolly her boobs caused all the tension and ejected the belt

Sounds like a bad battery. Happened to me and it was because a cell shorted out.
