Alternative to BMW Car Alarm in a non-prewired car
I just took delivery of my 2010 328i and was going to install my car alarm that I had in my 2008 323i. Surprise...it is no longer pre-wired, heard rumours that it is only a "factory option" from now on.
So, any suggestions on what my options are? Anyone have a nice flashing LED light that i can tie into my system to flash when the car is locked up? Can I "adapt" my old alarm to fit in the new car?

Oh really? Do you have any idea when they implemented this change? I have a 2009 and was planning on installing a BMW alarm soon.

The EAS RemoteKey+ module can fake the flashing LED and alarm chirp when you lock your car.
No real protection (the alarm that everyone ignores anyway gives you much more) |

Not Pre-wired = No Clown Nose
Unfortunately, as it is not a pre-wired car, there is no clown nose.

that must be a change for 2010 model as I have a 05/09 build data E93 that didn't have the alarm pre-wiring but did have the clown nose, so I went with the Remotekey+

Yep clown nose is present in all cars. Just does not work in non- factory installed alarm ones that were not prewired. Prewiring stopped in 3/09 but I believe that they have gotten enough complaints to pre-wire again in 2010 but I am not positive of that. There is a DIY to make the nose blink. And there is the Remote Key+ that will give you the nose blink AND a chirp when you lock and unlock the doors. DIY seemed a little hard for me to undertake. They did not offer the Simulated Alarm for the E93's for some reason. So I talked to the guys at Mods4Cars and you can now add the Remote Key + to the verts as well.

no prewiring really sucks. BMW is getting to be like Scrooge -- no tools, no prewire, no spare, no mats...no dipstick...when will the tires and steering wheel become options?
