E92 Seatbelt Extender Problem
I know these things usually don't work half of the time and just about everyone dislikes them, but recently mine is missing all of the time. I just had it replaced about a month ago, and for some reason it has started missing.
It's not missing the belt where the belt just falls off the clip, the clip is opening too late for some reason- i.e. opening after it passes the seatbelt. Has anyone had this particular problem or any idea how to fix it? I know it's a long shot but figured I'd ask. Any help is appreciated.

Had similar problems with mine. In fact, I broke off the arm reaching back to grab the belt when the extender dropped the belt. Fixed under warranty. Has been working (at least 90% of the time) like new.

I don't know the issues that people have with these. Mine have worked flawlessly.

Yea when I took it in for service in late November, they replaced both the extender and the seatbelt. Its not missing or falling off, it is just opening too late for some reason.
From what I can see it is a two part arm. The first half should extend first and at a certain point (about an inch), something inside flicks the handle out to catch the seatbelt, than the second half extends it all the way. Mine is doing the opposite, the second half is extending first, so by the time the first half opens it is already extended past the belt.

Mine stopped working all together. Had to order a whole new arm. It came in 3 days later. They then went to install it, and realized it was also the modulator that was 'F'ed up; so they then had to keep it over-night to wait for the modulator to come in. Didn't inconvience me too much. I had to adjust my schedule a little, but atleast your still works...

No problems with mine when the seatbelt is all the way back in its original position (slid all the way back on the rail on the bottom where the seat belt is attached). The only time I have an issue is when the seatbelt is being jammed forward by something on the floor behind my seat.

the passenger side one broke about 3 weeks into owning the car. still haven't made it to the dealership yet, although now I have enough things i want addressed that I might get around to it.
Seatbelt extender Nav System update (to get rid of the shopping carts) broken switch on passenger seat controls out of schedule oil change (it's been 5k miles and I don't care what BMW says, I'm changing my oil every 5k, out of pocket or not) all little things, but If they can do it all at the same time, all the better

Mine was working 50%, the dealer looked at it and said it was fine. One day I looked at it closely and ended up breaking off a piece of plastic inside the arm. Then it didn't work at all. A few weeks later I looked at it again and took the broken piece of plastic out with a pair of pliers.
Works 100% now, not even kidding. |

i like the way mbz has their extender setup. the belt is behind the panel and loops through the extender arm. no way it can not work unless the arm just doesn't come out.

My D side stopped working. The arm that flips up to get the belt doesnt work now. I can make it go up but it wont go up on its own.
I get to bring my car in next friday to get my p side airbag mat replaced for the 3rd time and for my seat belt extender. Fun. I hate my German dealer. |

Mine works perfectly every time, however I'd have been fine with them just mounting a loop on the side of the seat back like every other car. I'm not crazy about having to wait the extra few seconds to be handed my seatbelt. In previous cars I was putting on the seatbelt with one hand, and shutting the door with the other at the same time.
Nice 'wow' factor for guests, but I'd say a pointless bit of over-complexity that doesn't yield any major improvement in function. |

Personally I don't like them. Either they are too slow, miss the belt, when no one is in the passenger seat, it pushes the passenger belt out about 1 out of 4 times.
