E92 Msport front air duct

I was at the dealer today looking at some E92's and noticed something really odd. First off, all Msport bumpers I checked out were 335's.

On some models, the mesh in the lower part of the grill next to the fogs was solid, and only a small piece of brake duct sticking from the side into the large center opening of the bumper.

On others, the entire mesh next to the fogs were open along with the small piece sticking into the center opening.

Why is there such a difference in the openings for the brake air ducts on these E92 Msport bumpers? The one with the larger opening is obviously feeding much more air to the air ducts than the closed.

The area circled in yellow is the solid/mesh area I was talking about.

Probably on all 335i's the right mesh is completely open (also on the non M-sport bumper) and the left one is only partially open. This is because there is an oil cooler behind the bumper on the right side of the car.

IIRC, on one car, both were open. On the other, both were closed.

Then I'm clueless, and curious! On my 335i with the stock bumper, right mesh is completely open, left one is partially closed! I'm very interested in the answer to your question as well!!
