2010 328 - Clicking Sound from rear window/package shelf

Getting an annoying clicking sound from the rear window or package shelf. Might be the piece of plastic/vent that runs along the underside of the rear window. Anyone else had this? Easy fix? Don't feel like taking it to the dealer for something so minor. Thanks

Hey, a fellow Bostonian. Welcome!

Very common, mine does it on cold mornings until the cabin warms up. There might be a DIY on it here, but it is that plastic vent for sure. The plastic is rubbing against the metal and paint in there. Easiest fix is to pop that piece out and apply some felt tape to all areas that come into contact with the metal.

Thanks for the help Jopa! We've got the same car - JB XDrive LCI 328. Love the 162's on yours. Can ask where you picked them up and what you paid?

Anyone had the dealer perform this?

Cool. Come visit the NE regional section when you get a chance, would love to see you at a meet sometime.

I bought the 162s from another member here, they came off his 335 in pristine condition. I only use them in the summer though - stock wheels are on right now. Paid about $1100 with like-new performance RFTs mounted.

Definitely will check the NE forum out. Tbanks! Have a pic of the m-sport shift knob? Was thinking the other day that the stock one feels sort of plasticky and cheap.

Wow. I have a JB 328i xDrive as well and am getting the clicking sound from the rear shelf. We must be on to something!

I had the same problem on a 330xi and had the fix done by a dealer. It took about 20 - 30 minutes to repair, but unfortunately it was the third dealer who did the fix - the first two claimed they could not hear the clicking.
