E92 335i or Corvette C6.
Hey there guys. Let me explain my situation. I am a previous owner of a 2007 335i Coupe Alpine w/ coral red interior. Situations regarding money forced me to sell my car. I am now in the position to get in another car and originally the plan was for another E92, until I began to shop around a little and found another favorite car of mine to be in the same price range.
What do you guys think? I am sure the opinions on this forum will be biased but I would like your opinions anyway. I'm a fan of luxury, which is where the bimmer comes in. But I push my cars to the limit and I love my car to deliver when the time to play comes. I will track my car a few times and spend much of my time in the canyons. My car will be 6MT just so you guys dont compare transmissions, either car will be MT. Both will be heavily modded with wheels and brakes, body kits, and many performance upgrades, I usually end up dumping around 10-15k into my cars. Let me know your honest opinions, thanks!

335i
4k worth of engine mods you a mid to high 11 sec car 6k worth of exterior your a full vorsteiner (or any other body kit) car, with wheels you also get luxury with that but also the worry of HPFP failure. corvette c6 (iam guessing ls2) 4k worth of engine work your a mid to low 11sec car 5k worth of exterior and you have one badass looking car you get plastic interior, not as much room and well its american i dont have to tell you about that.iam not biased but i have owned a mustang and have driven plenty of vettes their sturdy cars for what they are but its not a Bimmer. its your decision though ive been dieing for something v-8 and loud for a while now so iam on the fence with this one for you bro,GL

Well, it just so happens I went through exactly the same dilemma. I was deciding between a C6 and 335i.
My #1 priority was performance. So at first glance, it seemed like a no brainer. Corvettes are king, and even a stock basic C6 is equivalent or faster than a modified 335i. However, in the end, I did go for the 335i (obviously) because of the 2nd important consideration. Interior quality. For that kind of money ($50-60K), can you believe the plasticly look and poor aesthetic design of the Corvette's interior? Man, it's really bad for the money you're paying. So even though performance was my #1 priority, the thought of spending every single day driving in an interior like that was a real put off. Now, if the next generation Corvette pays a lot more attention to that aspect, you can bet I will be one of the first in line to get it

+1 i think a e9x m3 would be what you should be looking at.but iam taking a wild guess and saying that the price range your in is not e9x m3 range.

It's an interesting comparison, but having had a C6, I'd take the 335i. Primary reason is handling. The C6 can be an absolute handful (typical American high HP car), whereas the 335i is much more refined in that area.

Seriously, pick up a vet for a little while or you will regret you didnt...especially since you already know what its like to own an e9x! |

I know its just my opinion but I really hate vettes, or maybe I just have their drivers i dont know. Id never ever have one. 335 all day or maybe a m3. Or if you want something more exotic go with a cayman s.

do you need a back seat? if the answer to that question is no, I'd really consider the vette. it will kill the 335i in every measure of performance, stock and modded (if that's important to you), but gives up a bit on the luxury and "image". The 335 will be more comfortable for daily driving, but since you mod your cars anyway, that might not matter much.
And I'm pretty sure the new vettes have an interior upgrade option that comes with a leather dash, so you could get that if you wanted a nicer interior. but they are really different types of cars. you might want to rent a vette for a few days and see if you'd like it as a daily. |

I'd probably take the C6, since you just had a 335. It's a great car but do you really want to drive it another 3-4 years. Time for a change.
Me personally? I'd go //M.

I just sold my atomic orange '08 C6 for my E90 335i, backseat was a priority. Nothing could touch the brute force of the vette, but the fit/finish just wasn't there. At slow speeds, the vette is cumbersome/boring. Love the low end torque on the N54. TT's make even legal driving somewhat fun. I blew though, in not getting an E93. When summer's here, the the sedan will suck.
Either way, get what you really want, regrets suck (I'm living it now) cheers, Joel |
