Angry BMW Clunker Kill (5-series)

I hope its not a repost.

This really sucked watching... It actually hurt
What a waste of a perfectly good car. As the mechanic says in the video, the douchebag owner probably traded it in for a kia...

If for some reason that appears as a big white box, like it does for me, try this

Thanks

Ugh, that's depressing. And did you see the Maserati one also, man what a shame, seems crazy to me. But people do what they gotta do ... I guess.

Why would anyone do that to a perfectly good car? Cash for clunkers, what a fucking joke that is. I swear our politicains should be drug tested on a daily basis because they all seem to be smoking crack these days.

Is that protocol for them to blow the engine that way for this program?

They're high on power and idiocy. 99% of our politicians are complete and utter morons.

Typical wasteful liberal inefficient government program. With the country currently controlled by liberals, things will only get worse.

Yes. They replace the engine oil with sodium silicate, which hardens as the engine heats up, so that the engine components are immobilized and destroyed. They do this so that the engine and its parts can't be resold. The entire car is then shredded. It's BS.

I saw a CFC kill list once. On it were among other things,

150+ 80s-90s Corvettes
A few Maseratis
Several 5 series BMWs
An E46 M3
An Aston Martin DB7.

Yes. Any "clunker' turned in must be rendered undrivable. The idea is to get inefficient more polluting vehicles replaced with newer more efficient ones which also serves to "stimulate" (trade future sales for current) the economy and save US Manufacturing jobs (temp increase in demand may cause companies to either higher more or retain workers).

side benefit is that it may buy votes because the government is seen as "doing something". whatever that means.

How is destroying perfectly good cars good for this country? We are destroying working American assets. I'm sure anyone from India or China watching this video would be in total disbelief. This makes me cry for my country.

The idea, like Socom said, is that it replaces "dangerous" polluting cars with more efficient ones. But the problem isn't some perfectly good 5 series, it's the kid with an '87 LeSabre that spews smoke out of the exhaust. They aren't going to turn in their car for CFC; then they are out a car and CFC doesn't pay enough to afford a new one.

The REAL reason for something like this is political support, IMO. Makes it look like they are saving the environment and changing things and whatever. Pfft.

The irony is the cash for clunkers program was modeled after the same program in Germany, the home of BMW.
