Changing interior trim panels; anyone done it?
So I'm considering an E93 that has aluminum trim, but I really like the gray poplar. Anyone ever done the change? Cost? Is it dumb?

Relatively easy, though I haven't done it personally. It will cost you a good amount if you buy the Gray Poplar new, but you might be able to trade with someone seeking aluminum. Hit up the Marketplace forums.

There are a ton of people who have look in the "Cosmetics and Lighting" under "General Forums" then do a search based on your keyword...most seem to swap for Carbon Fiber wrap or aluminium...have at it.

cool, thanx, how do these get installed? Glue? snap on? wouldn't want to mess with used if they are glued on, but I guess they're fairly universal pieces. . .

Most I've seen snap, you will find instructions on some of the posts. If you do it your self be sure to mark were the snap/clips are with masking tape on the outside so you only apply pressue in these areas. If not you can crack your trim. Also a trim removal tool is recommended. I am waiting on a quote from a dealer on the labor so I can make a decision on whether or not to do it myself.

Tons of people do it, the only thing I would warn you of the aluminum trim is that it dents easily. The arm rest is most susceptible as the seat belt bangs against it.
