How low will your 335d go?
It was 1 degree here in Kansas City this morning, so I put my car in the driveway hoping to see how the car would perform on start up. I waited a few hours to make sure that the engine was cold. Unfortunately by the time I started the car the temperature was up to 11 degrees. The car started right away..
What's the coldest start you've had? I'd like to know in advance at what temperature I'm likely to get stranded in my 335d. ? |

Nowhere close to yours. :P
28F There's a post I read where people in the -F/C range have said they see the glow plug briefly when it's that cold, but the car always starts, and without much fan-fair.

The pumps should switch over to winter diesel well before the temperature starts dropping, so unless you live in the arctic you'll probably be fine. When it drops to 3 below or more, the glow plugs will come on for a second but the car will still start immediately after.

Started the car in 27 degrees today after sitting for 5 days. Started right up with maybe one second of delay for the glow plugs to heat up. idled for a couple of minutes at most. Drove about 1/3 of a mile and had decent heat from the vents. That is pretty damn good!
This is the best heating performance I have ever had in all the cars I've ever owned by miles! Literally! Last weekend started it in 23 degrees and same result as above. |
