Left Exhaust Outlet Not Functioning

So, I posted a Thread about this earlier... Alot of useful answers... NOT
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?p=6458208
I now realize that there is a valve that opens and closes in accordance to your RPM's.

This picture was taken after 30 mins of mixed driving. The car was warm, I even brought the car up to 5-6k on several occasions.....

Any ideas???

Do the Golf Tee mod. That'll definitely fix it.

Check the cable in the trunk for the actuator. If all else fails -> Dealer.

maybe the flap is stuck in the shut position, do what 'smallseafishie' mentioned above and if it's still closed take it into the dealer.

Shine a flashlight in there with the car off. Is the flap shut? If it is, then it's broken because it's supposed to default to the open position with no power.

Agreed, definitely not right. It's either frozen or there's some other problem.

I believe that it opens with a vacuum line so that might be bad ....

It closes with a vacuum. It defaults to open with no vacuum (hence why the golf tee mod works).

Why don't you just do the golf tee mod? If the flap is still closed, just take a screw driver stick in there and open the flap. Since there is no vacuum hose to open/close the flap, it will stay in whatever position you leave it.

It electronically actuated using vacuum. In another words the force that pulls it shut is vacuum but the electronic actuator may choose to no close it.

During the enrichment cycle (aka cold start) the valve is closed to accelerate warm up time and (don't quote me on this, just heard it somewhere) reduce overall emissions.

Nothing is broken. When you 1st start up the car that one is closed and that's why. Do you see the black soot on the pipe? That means it works once you go passed 2K RPM...

don't know if you saw the pic, but after 30 min of driving there was still snow in the left tip meaning the valve never opened. snow would've been melted easily.

I doubt this will cause any problems or have a noticeable impact on performance. I would still get it fixed though.

Sorry my bad. I assumed it was just started in the morning. Yeah personally would just unlcip the actuator in the back of the driver side taillight and call it a day. My car has been running that way for 3 years now. and it sounds AWESOME.

On my coupe, when I first start engine in the morning, only the right exhaust is open. After a minute or so, the left opens.

Its been around 20 degrees here for last 2 months and the only time my left exhaust does not open up is upon start up. Around a min after start up it opens up.
