Are the seats too high in the convertibles/coupes?
I must be old skool, but I relate sportiness to a seat that is low to the floor, just like my old MG's and Porsche's 911.
In the 335, I feel as though I am driving an SUV sometimes. The E91 wagon has seats that are lower to the floor. What does everyone else think? |

I think there are enough controls on the power seat to put you pretty close to the floor boards :P

I don't know about the coupes but one thing I like about bmw's sedan are the low seats.
Much lower then any other sedan I've been in. My 2008 R32 seats were much higher. My s2000 seats were lower but don't recall them being that much lower. |

I think the seats aren't the problem. The roof is lower and the windshield is more raked than the E90/91. I find this a bit uncomfortable too. I'm about 5'-10" totally average in height, but I fit awkwardly in the E92 because I have a longer torso and shorter legs. So, I sit with the seat reclined more than really practical to make more headroom.

^ I have just the opposite problem - I'm 5'8 but have long legs and a short upper body. As a result my legs want me to sit far back but then I can't reach the wheel. I also have the seat set fairly high.

Do you have the sport seats or regular? I'm 6'3", "evenly" tall, and the 335 with regular seats seemed awkward to me, the sport seats feel great, so it was a constraint on my selection that the car had to have the sport seats for me to feel comfortable in the car.

IMO they are too high. (I have the electric sportseats) I am 6'3" and If I sit straight (which I like to when I "playing" on some nice curvy road), my hear touch the roof, very anoying. Wearing a helmet on a driving training / trackday is for sure not possible, unfortunatly. However, in the Z4M I didn't have really a lot more headroom. I could only wear a helmet there after installing recaro pole positions and even sitting in them without the polster (which by the way is not uncomfortable at all).
As pole positions are a bit too extrem for a E92 (at least for me) I am not considering recaro sportster CS. With them you will sit quite a bit lower. (by the way, I think that the electric seats are higher then the manual seats, at least I got this feeling) |

Seat angle
JP, You are spot on with the seat comment! My old e46 sat me down far enough to make it comfy for my 6'1" frame.....my e93 has great seats but in no way do they recline far enough down in the back of the seat!! Or, possibly they don't come up far enough in the front....(sport seats)

Indeed, although i ended up with the half electric seats the all manual ones go quite a bit further down to the point the centre armrest becomes high. Its the space required for the electric motor and linkage.

Agreed, I don't like being up high. Keep mine pretty low.

Thats one of my biggest complaints about the car is how high the seats sit even at their lowest setting. I have the sport seats and they are very comfortable for me but just wished they would go alot lower. I know on the G35c you can move the plastic piece that sets the range of adjustment on the linkage and get a noticeable amount of extra room to go lower, not sure if anything similar can be done on the 335i.

I guess you are right. And there is a subwoofer below the chair as well (hifi pro and logic 7 at least). I want to see if there is something possible to get the chair lower. Start to annoy me. My hair is gently touching the roof... And I want to be able to wear a helmet! (for trainings where this is mandatory)
