A snow flake flashed up on my dash

Does anybody know what this means when a yellow snow flake flashes on your dash?

it means the ambient temps are near freezing and that the roads maybe icy! hence the snow flake

I think it's a warning indicating freezing temperatures outside.

This is what it means:

...and you should be on the look out for potential ice on the roads.

Your car tracked a major blizzard coming your way, so you better stay inside your house for the next 3 months!!

Sorry, couldn't resist

Haha it's funny that people in the southern states have had no idea what this symbol means until now. I wish it was 37 degrees here

Chill out...you'll see it all the time...every Winter....

Then you'll see some "How do I adjust my clock?" in every April and October/November...

Tell them the answer or mock them...then move on....

I'm pretty sure it means the coolant and oil are frozen. I've been told that simply dropping a match in the gas tank does the trick.

Edit: see clarification a couple posts below

Now I hope someone doesn't actually do this... next thing you know they are going to blame you for saying that..

I am pretty sure that BMW gives each owner a manual in which all the symbols are posted but I could be mistaken....

If my memory serves me correctly it means that the car is requesting a ski trip... no?

Funny I actually thought about that after I posted! Thankfully I worded it, not as a suggestion, rather as something I was told.

Clarification: Do not drop match in gas tank as this may cure the snow flake symbol due to unreasonably high temperatures that could result in damage to your vehicle, personal property and people inside your vehicle and your skin melting off your face.
