07-10 BMW 335i Complaints?
I am seriously considering getting a BMW 335i
A few concerns that i do have, I have been hearing different stories about tunning/chipping them. Which tunes can not be discovered by the dealer? Also has anyone done turbo swaps? How easy is it to get 400hp/tq to the ground? Are there a lot of issues with the car? Such as major engine problems or anything else? Pro's and Cons of the car? Oh btw i am coming from a 2009 cobalt ss. so im not interested in any other car without a turbo. im hooked. |

Fuel pumps come up top of list as issues.
07-08 models have had the HPFP's warranty extended for 10yrs/120kmiles. No complaints from mine. I have 31k miles w/o any issues. Rock solid here. As far as chips, the popular choice here is the Jb3 (piggyback). With an intake and downpipes, you can squeeze more power out. All tunes are detectable w/ the latest software revisions. The piggybacks are removeable. BT tool can be used to read and clear error codes. That's about the best I can summarize. |

You probably won't get much help with such basic questions...but I'll be nice, because that's the kind of guy I am.
Easy to get 400hp/torque. JB3. Tune at your own risk. Some get caught and it's not pretty. There are ways around it, but there is always a risk. HPFP is a huge problem. Just had mine replaced today on my 2010 with 1500 miles. Other problems include squeaky brakes, injectors, turbo wastegates, rattles, electrical crap, etc. It's a great car. Coming from a Cobalt SS...prepare to be wowed. While it does have issues, just stay in warranty and you should be fine. Also, do some searching on the forums. All of your questions have been discussed AD NAUSEUM. |

Just to back the OP up a little if he has been searching at all...I just joined this site in the past 2-3 weeks, and I can't even begin to tell you how much the search function on this site sucks compared to the other car sites I belong to. Anyway, ranting done, and welcome to the boards!

Any 335i can take on your Cobalt anyday and they don't need any balls to do that.

I have no complaints. The best vehicle I have owned to date!
You should dump the Coldbolt in a heartbeat for a 335.

I would say the Top complaint about the 335, 135, 535, anything with a N54 is the HPFP problem... There are various other complaints, but none of them can top the HPFP issue, not to say that everyone has this issue, although majority of the people on this forum have encountered it, it's not a matter of IF it will happen, but WHEN it will happen.

Dude, seriously. Read more than zero posts on zero pages in here and the FI forum and you wouldn't have wasted the time of the respondents and readers of this thread.
