If you think you will later regret not getting it, get it now. I have the older version and I have no complains. The newer version is supposed to be much better. I would certainly recommend it.

Oh my, the age old dilema of resource allocation. Most people who buy cars in this price range obviously can fit in or stretch their budget to include iDrive if they want it. If an extra $2100 causes you to ponder this choice. Ask yourself which is more important to you: performance-enhancing mods or glitzy gizmos (after all, a $200 portable gamin can do 70% of what iDrive does). Another alternative is what other options you're willing to give up in exchange for iDrive. IMO, for nearly the same monies, iDrive is a better choice than premium pkg + CA + heated seats if you have to pick and choose.

It also depends on how long you plan to own the car.
X number of years down the road, having an outdated piece of electronics of that magnitude may not be attractive.

I was in the same position
but ended up being 'forced' to get it because the one that didn't have it got sold but, 2100 in a 5 year loan is not much... and I am REALLY happy I got it It makes the car look much more luxurious and it's also very helpful when wanting to change settings, music, navi.... list goes on I used to think getting a navi in a car a waste.. we have our phones, googlemaps... etc... but now, I will never get another car without a navi

I can't imagine not having the iDrive. I really like it even though mine is the 2007 version, which has been upgraded a couple times in subsequent models. And as a previous poster noted, it's not just about the navi. Having a large screen to scroll through your ipod, radio stations, phone contacts, etc is an awesome feature.

iDrive and ZSP are the only two options that I really wanted. Luckily for me, 6MT comes standard
So, if you are considering it, GET IT! You won't regret it. Much improved from previous years.

Exactly. It's not just about the Nav feature. And, the OEM setup is so clean.

It's about time someone started a tread on this!
Here's some other suggestions: What color interior/exterior should you get X-drive or not 2 or 4 door CA or not ^It would be nice if there was a thread on each of these.

Its well worth it, the ipod interface alone is awesome, I've never had a problem with the Navi even on the old version. $2,100 seems like a lot, but again, if you're spending $45k, whats another $2k.
