Heart pounding fun.
Ok so I just picked up my 2010 335xi 6spd Sports package with 18" (and oil cooler), Navi, Ipod, Sat radio, Logic 7, Premium, Cold weather, Comfort. Jet black with Black interior. Damn. Coming from a 2009 GTI its such a nice change(although for the last 3 weeks I have been driving a ford flex while my GTI was getting a new bumper). Car is so much more refined then anything I have ever driven.
The GTI came with 200 hp and 207 tq which I upped (3 days into owning) to 250 hp and 297 tq. This car is so much faster you cant compare and it doesn't fee like it once your out of 2nd gear. It just goes. 1st gear is a monster. I love it(the shifter hopefully will break in cause its notchy but its only got 30 miles on the car). I floored it from a dead stop and no wheel spin at all. Took off DSC and again no wheel spin. NOt used to that. Did the same thing turning off my street and again no spinor fishtailing. Normally with the GTI you cant get on it hard in 1st until your moving. This is such a nice change. I spent the last hours looking at exterior and interior mods. I am trying to be good and drive it sanely and break it in right(still not sure exactly what that would be cause I have read different reports). I cant wait for the winter to be over cause then the performance mods will begin(or if its like the last few cars it will be about 1 week). I am glad I spent a few weeks looking through the forums for info on what options to get and things to look for. Thanks for the help. Will post pics in the next few days. |

Congrats. BTW,I'm pretty sure the manual mentions something about the break in procedure. I would follow that.

You should wait until the break in period is finished before you before you start pounding on the pedals
For now keep that to a down low. Congrats on your new purchase. Enjoy it

Well once the break in period is down(gonna read the manual tonight) Ill have to try to break the tires lose again stock and have some fun. I like to getused tothe fel of thecar under normal driving and slowly over a few weeks push it a little harder each drive. This way I can learn slowly rather then going crazy and risk an accident. Thanks for the feed back. Its nice to have traction though

You may think that the transmission needs breaking in (I think it does but i don't know) but this 6MT is also bit notchy and needs getting used to. the first and second gears are a little jumpy but once you get used to it you can drive it smoothly.

My transmission was definitely really notchy when I first got it, but 2000 miles down and its the perfect level of notchy. Gives you just enough feedback that you're going into gear without being too difficult to shift.
*Disclaimer: I put in the short shift lever at ~600 miles. |
